Doing some long overdue CD spring cleaning, and found a CD with a few old tracks. Here’s Jingle Bells. Going by the date it looks like I did this coming up to Christmas 10 years ago. Quality is a bit ropey, in every respect.
If you can’t see a media player in this post, you can download the track here.
I think this photo must be well over a decade old too:

heh, I used to have a room just like that. And was talking to someone about music made last night too. It’s all on cassette and DAT somewhere but I have no idea in which box/bag/suitcase/container it might be in.
Did you ever do the ‘Let’s make a tune!’ thing after coming in from a night out only to wake up the next morning and discover that what you thought was awesome was truly, truly terrible?

I’ve only a few tracks on DAT. I had hundreds and hundreds of unfinished stuff I just never got recorded. All my gear is up in the attic now.
When I got home after a night out, I might mess with a track for a little bit, but I had this (slightly odd) habit: I’d lie down on the floor, turn off the lights, put my headphones on and put on my latest track and next thing you know I hear birds singing and I’m waking up with carpet face, drooling onto my headphones. Happened every time!

John, great time travel moment. did you ever frequent the Temple of sound, sides, the ormond or other such venues ?

Aye, I’ve got floppy disks full of samples and beats. Sold my gear a few years ago now though.
Mine had a lino floor so there was no falling asleep on it. I made some goddam atrocious music after clubbing though.

Leroy, yes indeedy! The Olympic in particular was a second home to me. Have a look at these:

Sir Henry’s for the Cork folk among us.
Major time warp there.

I was only in Henry’s once X-box but it was an amazing night. Bit of an adventure. I was at a wedding the night before and got talking to a Henry’s regular who jotted down his address on a beermat. Called round next night and went to sir Henry’s with a whole posse. Ended up back at a house with someone known as ‘Mad Mary’. She seemed quite sane to me!

Hah! I met my share of mad Mary’s in that place.
I was never into the dance scene at all, but all my friends were so I used to wander between the in there clubs that were connected.
I met a (later to be an) Oscar winner in there. Chatted up my house mate.

Hey Dave! How are you? Good to you hear from you. Bit of a blast from the past. Yeah it was a fairly cool room until the walls got coated in nicotine!
Yeah my 1210s are in the attic now too. As you know, at least they got well worn down before they started gathering dust though 🙂
Cheers!
